At the recent annual 2010 Nursery &
Garden Industry NSW and ACT Awards
held in Sydney, Provincial Plants and Landscapes was presented with the ‘NGI
Environment Award’ and recognised for its exceptional performance and
outstanding achievements over the past year.
As State winner for NSW and the ACT, Lisa
Roberts, Owner of Provincial Plants and Landscapes said “it is great to be recognised for practicing what we preach. We are conscious of our impact on the
environment and our ability to make a difference in our own backyard. We really strive to be sustainable in our
daily business practices and in the work that we do. It is also great recognition
for our team!”
The ‘NGI Environment Award’ is a highly
competitive award that is open to all industry businesses and acknowledges
business initiative to environmental management or community participation in
relation to environmental issues.
“What we do is really unique,” said Lisa. “Our
chemical free native nurseries operate primarily on renewable energy and
practice water use minimisation, our landscape products are boutique and
handcrafted, we undertake revegetation projects and create or remodel gardens
to be eco-friendly. A large part of what
we do is about public education and I’d like to think that we can be a role
model by showing that it is easy to be sustainable, successful and make a
difference in the community.”
