Stylidium gramnifolium

grass trigger plant

Tufted perennial with grass-like foliage and clusters of pale pink to magenta flowers in spring and summer. Trigger plant are so named due to a trigger mechanism in the flower that reacts when an insect lands to deposit pollen onto the insect.


origin	NSW, ACT, Qld Vic, Tas, SA.
cultural notes	Prefers moist, well drained soils in full sun or part shade.
tolerates	Drought and frost tolerant. Will tolerate wet periods once established.
flowering season	Spring and Summer.
flower colour	Flower are pale pink to deep magenta and are held well above the foliage on lond stems.
foliage colour	Grass like foliage to 30cm long in tufts at the base of the plant.
width	up to 0.5m
height	up to 0.8m
plant spacing	30cm apart
recommended uses	Excellent in rockeries or as a container plant. Effective when planted in drifts.
