A large, fast growing tree reaching a height of 55m. Rough grey-brown bark at the base of the trunk, smooth, mostly white bark above. The upper branches shed bark in long ribbons, often left hanging from the tree. |

| flower colour | Egg-shaped buds are occuring in clusters are followed by small white flowers. The fruit are round with 3 or 4 projecting valves. |
| foliage colour | The adult leaves are glossy dark green, pendant, lance-shaped and 20cm long. The juvenile leaves are shorter and a dull green. |
