barbed wire grass

Tufted perennial grass with arching seed heads and fibrous roots. Can live up to 25 years. Native to grassland and woodland and often found on low nutrient sites. Related to the culinary Lemongrass, foliage has a lemony scent, particularly when crushed.

cultural notes	A very hardy plant, tolerant of poor soils. Full sun or shade.
maintenance	Can be cut back after flowering to allow the emergence of new growth.
tolerates	Tolerant of drought and frost as well as poor soils. Will resprout after fire.
flowering season	Spring, Summer and Autumn
flower colour	Blue-green turning orange-brown in Autumn.
foliage colour	Green, rough textured foliage. Has a lemony scent when crushed.
width	up to 0.5m
height	up to 1m
plant spacing	50cm apart
recommended uses	Hardy plant in dry positions or on embankments and eroded sites. Can be used in group plantings as a feature. Revegetation.
